General Information

The LEI code is used to identify counterparties in financial transactions subject to reporting obligations in a simple, fast, and standardised way. It is uniquely associated with each applicant and cannot be transferred from one legal entity to another. 

The LEI code is mandatory, when conducting operations in financial markets, for businesses, investment funds managed by companies, pension funds, and other entities (such as Public Administrations, Associations, Foundations).


InfoCamere is a Local Operating Unit (LOU) officially accredited by GLEIF and authorised to issue and renew LEI codes. LOUs are organisations authorised to assign LEI codes and ensure the accuracy and updating of the information associated with them within a specific jurisdiction. InfoCamere operates as an LOU through the InfoCamere LEI platform (link) for Italy and ID-LEI for other countries.


ID LEI is the InfoCamere platform for activating, renewing or managing an LEI code for legal entities based in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Germany, India, Ireland, Luxembourg, Malta, South Africa, the United Kingdom.

LEI Registration & Business

You simply need to apply online through an accredited provider like ID LEI. Visit the "Registration" page, follow three easy steps, and submit your request.

ID LEI Business is a service dedicated to banks, financial intermediaries, professional firms, or associations that manage numerous LEI codes on behalf of third parties and who require support for the activation and renewal of the LEI code for their clients.

Renewal and Transfer

You can register or renew an LEI Code on the ID LEI portal with just a few clicks and without a registered account. After entering the legal entity details and making the payment, simply sign the request summary and submit your request.

The LEI code is valid for 1 year, even if purchased with a multi-year plan. After one year, the data must be validated again by the back office before the automatic renewal, even if the payment has been made in advance.

Enter your request in just a few clicks and ID LEI will deal with everything else. Please be aware that transfer of a code requires certain procedures to be carried out by InfoCamere and the LOU which manages the code.

The transfer of codes in "issued" or in "lapsed" status can be requested. The transfer of LEI codes in "retired" status cannot be requested.

Fast LEI & Certificate

FastLEI is a prioritisation service that allows the user to obtain the LEI code on the same day (for both renewal or activation), provided the required conditions are met. It costs 50 euros, it guarantees obtaining the code on the same day and the LEI certificate for free.

It depends on when you complete the request. If you complete the request by 3 p.m. (CET), you will get the LEI code by the end of the day. If you complete it later, you will get it by 12 (noon) of the next business day.

The LEI Certificate, issued by ID LEI, offers real-time data for your LEI number accessible using a QR code.

You can request the LEI code certification during the activation or renewal of the LEI code. 

When choosing a Multi-Year Plan, you will get the LEI certification for free and it will be sent to you every year during the Multi-Year Plan. You will find the Certificate attached to the e-mail confirming the processing of the activation or renewal request.
